Stories on the Run

Chennai, a city that was until recently called Madras, was one of the earliest settlements of the East India Company in India. Today, it is India’s 4th largest city and the capital of Tamil Nadu. Colorful temples, grand colonial buildings, bustling markets, spicy south Indian fare, iconic Filter Kaapi, classical music and dance, the finest silk and jewellery stores, and the larger-than-life movie stars – there are many unique cultural encounters that a visitor can look forward to. ‘Stories on the Run’ is a unique running trail by the sea. Jog past magnificent colonial buildings as you feast on stories of British India. Marina was their bastion and some of the best British buildings are along this road. And very pretty ones they are too. But more interesting are the stories they conceal – of grit, perseverance, and backstabbing, of practical concerns and pure unadulterated greed.
