A Trip To Kodanad And Athirapally

The Kodanad Elephant Training Center is one of the largest elephant training centers in Kerala. Flanked by the high ranges, it is located near the southern banks of the Periyar River. Since the ban on capturing elephants was enforced, Kodanad now serves as one of Kerala’s premier elephant training centers.You will also visit Athirappilly, home to the largest natural waterfall in Kerala.

Kerala's baby elephants receive exceptional care at Kodanad, which serves as a true sanctuary for orphaned calves, helping them overcome the agony of separation. Baby elephants that are found abandoned in the nearby forests are rescued by personnel from forest and wildlife organizations and brought to the Kodanad Training Center for rehabilitation.

After the visit, drive to Athirappilly, Kerala's most famous and largest waterfall, standing over 80 feet high. The sight of the water crashing onto the rocks evokes a deep sense of wonder at the sheer power and magnificence of nature. Located at the entrance to the Sholayar Forest Ranges, Athirappilly is part of the Chalakudy River, which originates in the Western Ghats.
