Grover Zampa Wine Trail

A visit to Grover Zampa Vineyards is a delightful escape into the world of Indian winemaking, set amidst the scenic countryside near Bengaluru. The experience begins with a relaxed walk through the vineyards, where you learn about grape varieties, terroir, and the art of cultivation, followed by a guided tour inside the winery to understand the journey from crushing and fermentation to aging and bottling. The highlight, of course, is the curated wine tasting session, where experts introduce you to a selection of elegant reds, crisp whites, and refreshing rosés. With its tranquil setting and immersive storytelling, the Grover Zampa Wine Tour makes for a perfect day trip for wine lovers and curious travellers alike.

Located about 40 km north of Bengaluru, Grover Zampa’s vineyard sprawls across around 410 acres at the foothills of the scenic Nandi Hills, sitting at an altitude of roughly 920 m above sea level. The region’s limestone-rich soil, cool breezes, and moderate climate help the grapes develop balanced acidity and rich aromatics, giving the wines their distinctive terroir-driven character.

What you experience on the tour

On arrival you’re greeted by gently rolling rows of vines that stretch toward the hills — a peaceful contrast to city life. The guided tour includes a walk through the vineyard, where you learn about the grape varieties grown here, viticulture practices like pruning and irrigation, and how the soil and climate affect growth. You then visit the winery area to see how grapes are processed — from sorting, crushing, and fermentation to aging, bottling, and labeling — giving you a full ‘grape-to-glass’ understanding of winemaking.

Barrel room

A highlight is the Barrel Room where premium wines (such as La Réserve, Vijay Amritraj Reserve, Chêne Grande Reserve) are aged in imported oak barrels — an atmospheric space that’s often a favourite stop on the tour.

Wine Tasting

The Cave De La Réserve tasting centre provides an elegant setting for sampling a curated flight of wines, with expert guidance on aromas, body and flavour profiles.

Nature & ambience

The vineyard’s tranquil setting also makes it a nice spot for a nature walk or birdwatching — you might spot species like the Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Blue-capped Rock Thrush, Tawny Eagles and Puff-throated Babblers around the estate.

Tour formats & extras

There are multiple tour packages to choose from (basic visits to premium tastings), typically lasting 60–90 minutes or more, with several daily start times. Optional experiences like grape stomping can be arranged with advance notice.
