Champions Boat League 2025

The Champions Boat League (CBL) is a professional snake boat racing event held annually in the Indian state of Kerala, organized by Kerala Tourism. CBL was launched in 2019 to transform Kerala’s centuries-old tradition of Vallam Kali (boat races) into a structured and globally appealing water sport. The league features long, sleek “chundan vallams” (snake boats), each powered by over 100 oarsmen, competing across various scenic backwater venues. Spanning multiple weeks, the league includes races in different districts with each leg contributing points toward an overall championship. Beyond being a sporting spectacle, CBL celebrates Kerala’s vibrant culture, with traditional boat songs, festive processions, and enthusiastic local participation. It also serves as a major tourism attraction, drawing visitors from around the world to witness the excitement, rhythm, and unity that define these races.
